Keep the appearance in the conversation
When an older door has decorative fittings, describe what you want to preserve before discussing new hardware. Door thickness, the lock body and existing preparation can affect the options. A photograph of accessible hardware markings can help the conversation without asking you to dismantle anything.
A change of keys after moving
List all exterior keyed cylinders, including side or rear entrances that may be used less often. If the locks work well, ask whether rekeying is appropriate. A latch that already catches or a bolt that needs the door lifted deserves a repair assessment in addition to changing who has a key.
Getting to the correct entrance
Provide the street number and which side of the property to use. Say whether the affected door is the main entrance, a separate unit or a door reached from a driveway. For rented or managed property, check who is permitted to approve a change and arrange for that person to be available.
A practical handover
Test every key at the included doors, with each door open and then closed. Confirm the parts retained, the work completed and any follow-up terms. If visible alterations to older property are involved, discuss any property-specific requirements with the owner before choosing the final scope.
